Toasted Nut Spice Cake recipe

Toasted Nut Spice Cake ingredients:

1/4 cup Soft butter
2 tbsp. Sugar
2/3 cup Chopped nuts
2 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Salt
1 tbsp. Vinegar
1 cup Milk(whole)
1 cup Soft butter
1 cup Brown sugar (packed)
1 tbsp. vanilla
4 Eggs
12 oz. Semisweet chocolate chips

Toasted Nut Spice Cake preparation:

1. Recipe by: Jo Merrill * To make sour cream, add 1 1/4 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice to the milk and let stand a few minutes before using in this recipe.
2. 1-Cream together shortening and brown sugar.
3. Add eggs; mix well.
4. 2-Dissolve baking soda in sour milk and set aside.
5. 3-Combine all remaining dry ingredients.
6. Add sour milk and dry ingredients alternately to cream mixture.
7. Add vanilla and mix until smooth.
8. Spread into greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. 4-To prepare meringue: Beat egg whites until stiff.
9. Slowly add brown sugar and continue beating until smooth.
10. Spread over cake batter and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
11. 5-Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for about 50 minutes.
