Tante Nancy's Apple Crumb Cake recipe

Tante Nancy's Apple Crumb Cake ingredients:

2 - 2-1/2 pounds tart apples (about 6-7 large), peeled, Cored, and sliced
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup Sugar
2 cup Unbleached white flour
3/4 cup Sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup margarine
1 Eggs yolks
2 tsp. margarine

Tante Nancy's Apple Crumb Cake preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease a 9 x 9-inch springform pan with margarine.
2. In a large pot, cook apple slices with water and 1/4 cup sugar until apples are tender but not mushy.
3. Drain and reserve.
4. In a small bowl, mix flour, 3/4 cup sugar and baking powder.
5. With a pastry blender, cut in 1/2 cup margarine.
6. Cut in egg yolk.
7. Reserve 1 cup of flour mixture for the topping.
8. Press remainder into bottom and sides of pan. Spoon drained apples into pan. Cover with reserved topping and dot with 2 Tsp margarine.
9. Bake for about 1 hour or until crust is golden brown.
