German Chocolate Upside-Down Surprise Cake ingredients:

-PREPARE FRUIT FOR CAKES-
1 1/2 cup Starter
2 1/2 cup Sugar
1 can Sliced peaches; 28-oz can
2 cup Sugar
1 can Pineapple chunks; 20-oz can
2 cup Sugar
1 can Fruit cocktail; 28-oz can
1 small jar maraschino cherries
***CAKE ***
1 pk Yellow Cake mix without pudding; OR
1 pk butter Flavored Yellow Cake mix
2/3 cup Oil
4 Eggs
1 pk Instant vanilla pudding mix
Fruit mixture; 1/3 rd
1/2 cup Nuts; chopped, optional

German Chocolate Upside-Down Surprise Cake preparation:

1. Heat oven to 375~.
2. Grease a 9x13-inch pan. Sprinkle coconut and pecans evenly over bottom of greased pan. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil and eggs at Low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes at High speed.
3. Spoon batter evenly over coconut and pecans.
4. In another large bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, margarine and cream cheese; beat until smooth and creamy.
5. Spoon evenly over batter TO WITHIN 1 inch of edge.
6. Bake at 375~ for 43 to 53 minutes, or until a tothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
7. Cool completely.
8. Cut into squares.
9. Invert each square onto individual plates.
10. Serve warm or cool.
11. Store in refrigerator.
