Fish Cakes with Horseradish-Sour Cream Sauce recipe

Fish Cakes with Horseradish-Sour Cream Sauce ingredients:

1 1/2 lb Fresh fish fillets
1 1/4 cup mashed cooked potatoes
2 Eggs -- Beaten
2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. fresh pepper
1 bunch green onions -- minced
1/4 tsp. Ground cardamom
1 1/2 tsp. Grated orange peel
1 tbsp. Chopped fresh cilantro
2 tbsp. Chopped fresh parsley
flour or cornmeal for rolling cakes
4 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
***SAUCE***
1 cartn Sour cream
1 tsp. horseradish -- or to taste

Fish Cakes with Horseradish-Sour Cream Sauce preparation:

1. Pat fillets dry with paper towel then place fillets in food processor or grinde r. Cook and mash potatoes.
2. Set aside and cool.
3. In a bowl, mix together all remaining ingredients except vegetable oil. Add fi sh and potatoes to mixture, shape into 2-inch patties.
4. Dust patties in flour o r cornmeal.
5. Heat vegetable oil in saute pan until hot. Saute cakes until gold en brown on both sides.
6. The should be firm but not overcooked, about three min utes on each side.
7. Sauce: Mix sour cream and horseradish together.
8. Variations: Serve with curry Mayonnaise or Apricot chutney.
