Fig-Orange Cake ingredients:

1/4 cup -Shortening
1 cup Honey
1 Eggs
1 1/2 tbsp. Orange peel
2 1/2 cup Whole-wheat flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Salt
3/4 cup Orange juice
1/2 cup Walnuts
1 1/4 cup Dried figs

Fig-Orange Cake preparation:

1. Cream shortening; continue creaming while adding honey in a fine stream.
2. Add egg and beat well; add orange peel.
3. Add baking powder, soda, salt to flour; sift or mix thoroughly.
4. Add flour mixture alternately with orange juice, a small amount at a time, to honey mixture, beating after each addition until smooth.
5. Stir in figs and nuts; blend.
6. Turn into 8 X 5 X 3-inch greased and floured loaf pan or 8 ½ X 12 X 2-inch cake pan. Bake in 325 °F. (slow) oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until done.
7. Let cool, wrap and store overnight to blend flavors and for easy slicing.
