1	cup	Almonds, with skins
2	tsp.	baking powder
3	large	Eggs, separated
3/4	cup	Sugar
1/4	cup	Unsalted butter, softened
1	tbsp.	brandy
1/2	tsp.	Almond extract
		powdered sugar.
		marzipan "potatoes," optional (see recipe)

Family cake with broiled topping-mix preparation:

1. Bake family cake as recipe directs (recipe in this group of recipes) combine remaining ingredients in order shown.

2. After cake has cooled slightly, spread with cocoa mixture.

3. Place in broiler with surface of cake about 4 inches from heat source.

4. Broil until frosting bubbles.
