Cake Doughnuts 2 ingredients:

Vegetable oil, for frying
3 1/3 cup flour, all-purpose
1 cup Sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon, ground
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg, ground
2 tbsp. shortening (I use Crisco)
2 Eggs
3/4 cup Milk

Cake Doughnuts 2 preparation:

1. Heat oil (2-3 deep) in deep-fat fryer or heavy kettle to 375. Beat 1 1/2 c. of the flour and the remaining ingredients in large mixer bowl, on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
2. Beat on medium speed, scrape occasionally, 2 min. Stir in remaining flour.
3. Turn dough onto well-floured cloth-covered board; roll around to lightly coat with flour.
4. Roll gently 3/8 thick.
5. Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
6. Slide doughnuts into hot oil with wide spatula.
7. Turn doughnuts as they rise to surface.
8. Fry until golden brown, 1-1 1/2 min. on each side.
9. Remove from oil; do not prick doughnuts.
10. Drain on paper towels.
11. Serve plain, sugared, or frosted.
12. 2 Dozen Doughnuts.
13. I shake them in a bag of powdered sugar.
