Babovka/Also Called Pound Cake recipe

Babovka/Also Called Pound Cake ingredients:

1 cup butter, or margarine, softened
2 1/2 cup Sugar
6 Eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. orange extract
1 tsp. Rum extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
3 cup cake flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 cup Sour cream
1/2 cup Apricot brandy

Babovka/Also Called Pound Cake preparation:

1. - Separate egg whites from yolks.
2. Set the whites aside.
3. - Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
4. - Mix yolks with sugar.
5. Add slowly oil, then hot water.
6. - Mix in flour and backing powder.
7. - Beat egg whites alone in another bowl until they expand about 3 to 4 times.
8. use an electric mixer on high speed for this.
9. - Add these egg whites to the batter.
10. Mix by hand.
11. Add vanilla if desired.
12. - Pour half into greased round angel-cake pan. Mix the cocoa into the remaining half and pour on top of the first layer in the pan. Don't mix together.
13. - Bake for 45 minutes.
14. Check with toothpick (toothpick will not have mixture on it if the cake is done) by poking it into the cake.
15. - Sprinkle finished cake with powdered sugar.
16. - You could also add raisins or nuts to the original batter or pour chocolate on top of the finished cake.
